We are incredibly honored to share that Heart of Galt Rescue was recently featured in The Galt Herald in an article titled “Small Town with Big Heart.” Being recognized by our local newspaper is not just exciting — it’s deeply meaningful to us because our mission has always been rooted right here in Galt.
A Community Need Turned Into Action
The article highlights how our rescue was founded out of a real need in our community. With limited local animal services and the nearest shelter nearly 30 minutes away, many residents were left unsure of what to do when they found a lost dog or needed help rehoming one.
We stepped in to fill that gap — offering guidance, support, and foster-based rescue services to help dogs in our area stay safe and find loving homes.
Foster-Based, Heart-Led Rescue
Heart of Galt Rescue operates as a home-based, foster-focused nonprofit. Every dog in our care is raised in a loving environment while receiving proper veterinary care, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and microchipping before adoption.
Our focus on pregnant mama dogs, new moms, orphaned puppies, and vulnerable dogs allows us to care for them during the most critical stages of their lives.
Judgment-Free Support for Our Community
One of the things the article beautifully captured is our commitment to offering judgment-free support. Whether someone has found a stray dog or is facing the difficult decision to surrender a pet, we meet people with compassion.
We help with lost dog reports, flyers, local resource connections, and guidance every step of the way — because supporting people is part of saving dogs.
A Small Town with a Big Heart
The feature also shines a light on the generosity of our community. From volunteers and fosters to local businesses who donate supplies or storage space, Heart of Galt Rescue exists because of the people who believe in this mission.
